When hearing about CBD and its uses we hear a lot about its pain-relieving properties and how to use CBD for pain management and stress relief. However, CBD has so many different uses! One of my personal favorites is skin care!

As a teenager and in my early twenties skin care for me was an afterthought. I would wash my face but that would be the extent of my skin care routine. As I got a little older and started wearing less and less makeup, I realized how important having a good skincare routine is and the best part to any great make-up look is great skin.

I first started using facial oil after having a conversation with my best friend in which I was complaining how I felt my skin was lack luster and could really use a boost. She recommended a Vitamin E facial oil to me and within days I noticed the positive impact on my skin. My skin felt softer, looked brighter, and my skin tone was evening. This is when I began my research into all the different skin care products out there, and I am to this day, obsessed with finding the best natural skin care products.

Fast forward a year or so and my brother is telling me about a natural skin care line he was developing with CBD, and the first thing I recommended was a facial oil! Then the Naturally Beautiful Facial Oil was born. When making Naturally Beautiful the goal was to ensure the products were made with the best natural ingredients and void of any harmful chemicals. What was created was an oil that is hydrating, toning, healing, anti-aging, and more!

You may be wondering what is CBD oil and why would I want to put it on my face?

Well, CBD is short for cannabidiol a non-psychoactive chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. It is “non-psychoactive” meaning it will not get you “high” the way cannabis containing THC will.
There are a great deal of studies and research going into the healing and pain-relieving qualities CBD has. What has become clear from the various studies into the benefits of CBD is that it has incredible anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and when applied topically to your skin it can have a wonderful impact on the way your skin looks and feels.

Because CBD has such powerful anti- inflammatory properties, CBD will help support the skin’s natural healing process, including shortening the lifespan of breakouts, or even eczema/ psoriasis flare-ups. Acne is an inflammatory condition and the soothing properties in CBD can help diminish breakouts and reduce redness in the skin. One of the major components in CBD oil is an antioxidant that is even more powerful than Vitamin C, E, A, or omega 3 fatty acid.

Now let’s talk about the anti- aging properties of CBD. We know that wrinkles can occur because of outside factors such as smoking, sun exposure, and long periods of high stress. But we also get wrinkles because of the simple fact we’re humans and we are aging every day. As we age the elasticity in our skin begins to breakdown. The body also becomes less effective at fighting inflammation, retaining moisture, and repairing itself. So, if we look at all the reasons, we get wrinkles we can also understand why CBD would be so effective at fighting them. For one, Cannabidiol has naturally high levels of anti-inflammatories. This will fight any inflammation caused to your skin by outside factors such as sun or pollution exposure, as well as skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. As is true with its antioxidant properties doing the work of reducing damage to your skin caused by sun or pollution. Antioxidants help stop damage caused by free radical production and will protect cells from damage, including the skin cells on your face.

CBD is just one of the wonderful ingredients in the Naturally Beautiful Facial Oil. Our oil includes coconut oil, argan oil, rose hip oil, avocado oil, vitamin E, Retinol, sea buckthorn oil, and Abyssinian oil. Some of these ingredients may sound very familiar for example coconut oil, which replenishes the skins surface and resists moisture loss; or avocado oil which moisturizes, softens, and heals dry or aging skin. Then there is sea buckthorn oil, that sounds like something you would get out of the ocean, right? Well what it really is, is a berry or a “super fruit” rich in antioxidants which protect against free radicals that cause skin damage and cancer. It also has a wonderful refreshing scent and the ability to make your skin glow from the inside out. Another ingredient I had never heard of was Abyssinian oil which comes from a seed and it protects your skin from moisture loss. Abyssinian also contains Linolenic Acid, an Omega 3 which is an anti-inflammatory, cell- communicating and skin conditioning fatty acid. We also included rose oil which is used to treat scars and other damage to the skin and its used often to combat stretch marks, wrinkles, pigmentation and other different signs of aging.

While our facial oil is a wonderful addition to your skin care routine. It shouldn’t be the only thing you do! It is very important to cleanse your skin so our oil can get to work on a clean surface! Exfoliation is also great for your face because it will get rid any dead skin hanging out and it will even out your skin tone. Drinking lots of water is also especially important for healthy skin! Dehydration can leave your skin dry, cause chapped lips, and leave your skin looking dull.

I use my Naturally Beautiful Facial Oil every day, twice a day! In the mornings, I wash and tone my face and use a small amount of the facial oil (maybe a quarter dropper) and rub it down my face and neck. I leave it on and put on moisturizer and make- up if I feel like it that day. In the evenings I wash, exfoliate (about 3-4 days a week), and use a toner. I then put a generous amount (half to a full dropper) on my face then I smooth it into my face, neck, and chest. Some nights I finish with an overnight mask or just let the oil get to work! I wake up with my skin feeling super moisturized and my skin glowing!

I absolutely love this facial oil and I hope you do as well!
